Twitch Chat Logs
Broadcasters, their moderators, ChtrBot employees, and our internal systems may have access to chat logs associated with subscribed channels. This access is provided to enable them to review interactions, monitor compliance with community guidelines, ensure service quality, improve platform functionality, detect fraud, prevent abuse, and address technical or user concerns. Internal systems may also use chat logs for security monitoring, such as identifying and preventing violations of our terms of service.
- Scope of Access:
- Broadcasters and their moderators can only access chat logs related to their own channels.
- ChtrBot employees may access chat logs as needed to support operational tasks, including troubleshooting, quality assurance, compliance monitoring, security investigations, feature development, and user support.
- Retention Period:
Chat logs are retained as long as necessary while the broadcaster account remains established with the service, after which the logs are deleted unless required for security or legal purposes.
- Use of Chat Logs:
Broadcasters, moderators, and ChtrBot employees are required to use chat logs responsibly and in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
- Data Sharing Restrictions:
Broadcasters, moderators, and ChtrBot employees are prohibited from sharing chat logs with third parties unless explicitly authorized or required by law.
- Employee Accountability:
ChtrBot employees are bound by confidentiality agreements, internal policies, and access controls to ensure the secure and ethical handling of chat logs.
Retention of Flagged or Monitored User Data
To maintain the integrity and safety of our platform, we may retain chat messages and related activity data for users who have been flagged or monitored due to suspected violations of our Terms of Service, spam, abuse, or other policy breaches. This information is retained for the purpose of enforcing rules, preventing abuse, resolving disputes, and supporting audits of moderation actions.
- Scope: This retention applies only to users whose activity has been flagged or monitored. It does not apply to all users.
- Retention Duration: Data for flagged or monitored users may be retained indefinitely, as long as it is necessary for enforcement, dispute resolution, or compliance purposes.
- Access: Access to this data is restricted to authorized moderators, compliance, and security staff.
- Data Minimization: When possible, older data may be pseudonymized or anonymized to reduce privacy risks, while still preserving the enforcement history.
- User Rights: Users may request deletion of personal data; however, data necessary for enforcement or legal compliance may be exempt from deletion requests.
By using our services, you acknowledge and consent to this retention practice for flagged or monitored users in order to maintain a safe and compliant platform.
Use of OpenAI Moderation for Chat Responses
To maintain a safe and compliant user experience, we use OpenAI’s moderation system to assess outbound chat responses. This process helps determine whether messages align with our policies and community standards. OpenAI returns a moderation result, which we use to decide whether a message is delivered, modified, or blocked.
We do not share personally identifiable user data with OpenAI as part of this process. However, messages sent through our service may be analyzed by OpenAI’s system to generate a moderation result. For more information on how OpenAI processes data, please refer to:
By using our service, you consent to this moderation process as outlined in this policy.
